About Us

civBox Software is a small company dedicated to creating well supported, quality applications for the Adobe ColdFusion platform.

Based out of Sydney Australia, civBox came about in 2005 when we saw the commercial potential for some of the web applications that we were creating for our various web site projects.

Along side our commerical productions we also release open source code to give back to the ColdFusion community.

BoxSyndication 2 1.1 Is Out

March 26, 2008 - boxCFCs

Exclamation mark CivBox Software is today has released the newest update to their popular BoxSyndication 2 tag for the ColdFusion Mark-up compatible range of web servers. With the new 1.1 version of this software, BoxSyndication 2 introduces a new set of features that are not available elsewhere for ColdFusion and compatible servers.
  • Full Unicode UTF-8 support
  • High ASCII character to XML safe hexadecimal character conversion
  • Really Simple Syndication 2.0.10 namespace support
  • OpenSearch 1.1 namespace support
  • Dynamic Atom element value encoding

In addition we now include a generous sample of 15 different feed examples which have all been created from scratch for this new release including an OpenSearch implementation. Plus there are extra tips and examples on automatic discovery for your feeds and as well as a guide on saving bandwidth by using HTTP conditional gets. If this all seems too much, the examples folder now has its own index cover page to allow for easy access and navigation to each item.

As always this new release is a free upgrade for all owners of both BoxSyndication and BoxSyndication 2. Otherwise it is a $35US purchase for an unlimited upgrade, single developer license. BoxSyndication 2 is compatible with Adobe ColdFusion 6.1,7,8; New Atlanta BlueDragon 6.2,7 and Railo Technologies Railo 2.

A complete list of changes can be found at the BoxSyndication 2 Support, Release Information page.

Open Source Component License Change

December 11, 2007 - Open Source

Exclamation mark

As of the 12th of December 2007 all the open source components created and hosted by CivBox Software will have their licenses updated. The change only applies to new users of the components after this set date.

The change was introduced to uniform the licenses which previously were mixed between various editions of the Creative Commons Attribution license. It also came to our attention that the Attribution license was never intended to be used with software. So for that reason we have decided to instead use the Creative Common BSD open source license.

While on the topic of open source components, we have released a minor update to the "NumberConvert" function. It now supports both comma and oral syntax combined on the same output.
